Legibility vs Communication
(Objective)
Through visual elements and thoughtful layout, these experimentative posters challenge viewers to consider how communication goes beyond mere readability, aiming to inspire a deeper understanding of effective design principles.
My process
Research and Inspiration:
I immersed myself in contemporary design literature and explored works that disrupt traditional formats.
Ideation:
During brainstorming sessions, I encouraged free-flowing ideas, focusing on unconventional approaches. I sketched out various concepts, exploring how different visuals and layouts could evoke emotions or provoke thought.
Design Development:
I created multiple iterations of each poster, concentrating on how color, typography, and imagery interacted. I aimed for designs that created tension or layered meanings, always aligning with the project's goal of deeper engagement.
Feedback and Iteration:
I sought feedback from peers and mentors, using their insights to refine my designs. This collaborative input was invaluable in ensuring the posters resonated with viewers and effectively challenged their perceptions.
How can we challenge and redefine the core principles of visual design?
Core Principles
- Mixed Media: Combining traditional print with digital elements.
- Textural Elements: Incorporating varied textures to create tactile experiences.
- Non-traditional Formats: Exploring sizes and shapes that defy standard poster conventions.
